The Campaign Ready Workshop
A one-day intensive for photographers moving from personal work into paid commercial work. Over six-plus hours, you'll learn to break down what a real campaign brief demands, build and direct lighting to match it, watch a full campaign shoot happen live, and turn a shot list into a client-ready delivery.
About The Workshop
During the workshop, AB+DM will walk you through their complete campaign process, from brief to delivery, covering how a creative brief becomes a lighting plan, how that plan becomes a live shoot, and then how that shoot becomes a client-ready deliverable. Everything they cover comes directly from their work on commercial campaigns across product, lifestyle, and brand advertising.

The Story
Light Defines Images
You can have the sharpest eye, the best gear, and years of strong editorial work behind you, but if you don't know how to read a brief, a commercial shoot will run you instead of the other way around. Campaign work isn't simply about capturing a great image. It's about translating a client's objective into light, direction, and a full set of deliverables that hold together as one system.
"We built this workshop because we kept seeing the same gap: photographers who could shoot beautifully but hadn't learned how to shoot for someone else. They were creating rather than executing. Interpreting rather than delivering. This workshop closes that gap.
We want you to walk into your next commercial shoot already knowing what the client is going to ask for."
Who This Workshop Is For
The Working Photographer
You're shooting professionally in portraits, lifestyle, or small commercial jobs, but you're still landing clients one at a time. You want to understand how briefs, agencies, and campaigns work so you can compete for bigger budgets.
The Emerging Creative
You've built a strong body of editorial or fashion work and know how to make a beautiful image. Now you want to translate that eye into commercial campaigns, where the client's objective drives the shot, not just your own vision.
The Genre Shifter
You’ve established yourself in wedding, documentary, sports, or commercial photography and now want to explore editorial—fashion and magazine work—learning its visual language, lighting, and how to transition confidently.
The Ambitious Enthusiast
Photography is your passion and you're ready to level up seriously. You want to understand lighting from the inside out, taught by a duo who does this at the highest level every day.
Learning Modules
The Brief as Blueprint: Understanding Commercial Work
1
90 min
Before any light gets set, we build a shared vocabulary for how commercial work actually runs. This module reframes a campaign as a system, brief, deliverables, and approvals, rather than a single image, and introduces the language that separates commercial photographers from everyone shooting for themselves.
Brief to Light: Setup and Direction
2
75 min
With the brief established, we translate it into a technical plan. This module covers how mood and tone become lighting decisions, how ratios and modifiers get chosen with intent, and how a client's language on set turns into direction a model can act on.
The Shoot Floor: Live Demonstration
3
90 min
Theory gets tested on set. This module puts a full campaign shoot in front of you, multiple looks pulled from one lighting setup, run at the pace of an actual production day, with the reasoning behind every adjustment made visible as it happens.
From Shoot to Client: Post-Production
4
60 min
5
A shoot only counts once it's delivered. This module covers culling for multiple deliverables, retouching for brand consistency, and preparing files the way an agency or client actually expects to receive them.
Open Q&A — Ask Us Anything
30 min
The day closes with a full, open Q&A. Nothing is off limits. This is your chance to ask the questions you've never had the right room to ask — about lighting, about the industry, about building a career at the editorial level.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
You should be comfortable with manual exposure and have some experience working with off-camera flash or studio strobes, even just entry-level. You don't need advanced lighting experience. You do need a genuine drive to understand it deeply. We'll meet you where you are and take you further.
-
You're welcome to bring your camera if it helps you feel at home, but this is not a workshop designed as a shoot-out experience. You will be watching and learning from the team through live demonstrations of an editorial photoshoot. All equipment is provided and you won't need your own gear to get full value from the day.
-
No preparation is required. If you want to arrive with something in mind, spend a little time in the days before looking at editorial and fashion photography that moves you. Come with a sense of what you're drawn to visually and we'll help you start to understand why.
-
This workshop is fully demonstration-based. Rather than dividing attention between operating your own camera and absorbing what's being taught, we've designed the day so you can focus entirely on watching, learning, and asking questions in real time. You'll leave with a far deeper understanding of light than any trigger-pull could give you in a single session.
-
Not currently. The in-studio format is fundamental to what makes this experience worthwhile. That said, we are developing a complementary digital resource series for alumni. Stay tuned.
-
Out of respect for the creative process and everyone in the room, participants are welcome to photograph lighting setups and take notes throughout the day. Video recording of demonstrations is not permitted unless expressly approved by the instructors.
-
Full refunds are available up to 14 days before the workshop date. Within 14 days, your registration can be transferred to a future session. We understand life happens and will always work with you to find the right solution.
